Shoppers Food Grocery Store Shows Their Support

Thanks Shoppers for their continuous collection of small boxes.  They are very much needed!

The Box Top Boys wrap the boxes in white paper and decorate them with Box Tops For Education Logos.

This is a lot of work, but we are hoping that both their employees and patrols will deposit the box tops.

It has only been a bit over a week, since the first box was placed.  We checked it last night and there were box tops in the box.

It is going to be challenging to reach our goal of 1,000, but you can help.  If everyone just collects a few box tops, everyone will benefit.

Edcuational Supply Stores

We found a great website.  It has a directory of educational supply stores.

We hope you find it useful.

Visual Cues Make Learning Easier

How many times have you heard someone say, "If I can picture something I will understand it better?"  How about, "If I hear it once I can remember it forever?"

Children have different learning styles too.  When they use several senses at the same time it helps them grasp and master new concepts.

Try putting a sheet of ten math problems, without any visual cues,  in front of  most first graders.  What does their body language tell you?  You will often see more movement of their entire body.  Perhaps they start squirming in their seats.

Take the paper away and give them a moment to relax.  Talk about something completely unrelated.

Then put a workbook like the one above in front of them.  Very few problems per page with many visual cues.  The pictures are simple and easy to understand.

I've looked at 15 different workbooks and Fisher Price is the best one I have ever found.  The problem is that it does not appear to go past the first grade.

Obviously people of all ages learn better with visual cues.  Is it a coincidence that kids lose their love for learning when they are no longer provided visual cues?

 ~ Posted by Mom

PS ~ I found this workbook at a used book store and paid $1.50  Much better than the 2nd grade book I settled for last night.  Purchased at Staples for $10.00+  (Don't you love Amazon?)

Real Estate Search And Sale, LLC Donates 1,000 Collection Envelopes

Thanks to Real Estate Search and Sale, LLC for the donation of 1,000 envelopes, which will be used to pass out to the community.

Community members will use the collection envelopes and "The Box Top Kids" will return to gather all the box tops that the community has clipped.

The Box Top Kids did the math and believe that if they can pass out 1,000 envelopes, every home and business should be able to put at least 5 box tops in each envelope.

How is the distribution of the envelopes going? A bit slow.  The first evening they passed out the envelopes it was raining.  And young leggs tire quickly.  Ten down, Nine hundred ninty to go.
